Berlin based Ballet School have followed up their excellent Boys Again EP with their mesmeric full length debut, The Dew Lasts An Hour released on the Bella Union label.
The atmospheric Slow Dream kicks things off before Pale Saint really gets things going with some incredibly catchy hooks. Lead single LUX is a real tempestuous track that enthrals immediately and shows off the great strengths of this band. There are also fine moments that have been take from the aforementioned EP such as Ghost and Heartbeat Overdrive.
Tracks like Cherish really stand out and it has an almost power ballad feel t it whilst maintaining its pop sensibilities. All Things Return At Night goes on to emphasise Ballet School’s strong eighties influence and is full of dreamy synths and wonderful vocals. This excellent record is brought to a close by Yaoi and Crush another two tracks from the previous EP, which really round things off nicely.
