Bleeding Gold Records have brought two superb bands together to release this fantastic split cassette from Petey and The Sweets.
The EP contributed by trio Petey really impressed as well as being completely new to myself as I had never come across the band before hearing this. The excellent Damn Dude opens up the record and with its frenetic punk rock tones it leaves you excited to hear more straight away. The Sublime Robots really stands out on this record with some great riffs and hooklines that can’t fail to get you moving. This very strong EP is drawn to a close by I Don’t Wait (Ace Ventura) which has a brilliant new wave sound and rounds things off really nicely.
The Sweets on the other hand are a band who I’ve heard a lot from in recent times and their EP has not failed to live up to expectations. Me And My Dog is an instant surf pop classic with its delightful understated tones and soft vocals. The enigmatic Yes, Daddy and Winter follow a similar theme but are till impressive tunes in their own right. The final track is the wonderful Ana a really low key that ends this record on a sombre note.
