Withered Hand-New Gods

Folk-rocker Dan Wilson AKA Withered Hand follows up his superb debut album, Good News, with the long awaited New Gods on the Fortuna Pop label.
Wilson croons wonderfully through the wonderful and enthralling opening track Horseshoe, to get you into the record straight away.  The yearning and heartfelt Love Over Desire really pulls at your emotions to provide a stand out moment of the album.  It’s not all morose folk from Withered Hand as he is just as adept at providing more upbeat, poppy moments like King Of Hollywood.
The joyous tones and lyrical content of Fall Apart contrast each other superbly to make for another brilliant tune.  It is testament to Wilson’s song writing that his lyrics are a prominent feature throughout the record which is emphasised on the mesmeric Between True Love And RuinNew Gods really is a fantastic album full of great tunes from this hugely talented singer/songwriter and the emotive Not Alone sums all this up perfectly.
