The Voltaires-The Voltaires

Leeds’ The Voltaires release their self-titled debut album, on This Is Art Recordings, and it’s a great garage rock record.  The album opens with a sedate Intro which leads you into a false sense of security before going into Recallwhich is a rip roaring track full of great riffs.

Although there is quite a punky feel to the record tracks like Son Of The Devil have a more melodic tone to them.  (I Hate) Saturday Nights is one of the stand out tracks featuring great vocals and a fantastic shout along chorus.  The Voltaires continues in a similar vein throughout and one thing that is unavoidable about it is just what a catchy record this really is.  There are other highlights on the album like Sad Alone and Eye For An Eye which helps keeps proceedings moving along nicely.  Overall The Voltaires have release an exciting rock record featuring a good lo-fi value that adds a little charm to it.
