Leeds singer-songwriter Harry George Johns’ Post-Breakdown Blues is a brilliant record that is full of emotion and is most certainly a product of a set of unfortunate circumstances that he once found himself in.
Opener Drink Myself To Sleep demonstrates Johns’ openness and is sung with such raw emotion that you can’t help but empathise with him. All You Can Do is a more melodic number which moves along really nicely before going into Tie Your Own Noose which is a more bluesy number and has a chorus that just makes you want to sing along.
Next up Sleep Is The Cousin Of Death is a powerful moment on the record and a bold choice from Johns as he chooses this song to call out his ex-girlfriend in the best way possible. Morning Song really emphasises the talent of this brilliant singer-songwriter, while the EP concludes with Hospital Blues which really sums up a brilliant, genuine and honest record.
