Sheffield four-piece, Wooderson release their debut album Let The Man Speak on independent record label Bombed Out Records. Opening track Deluxe is a great powerpop number that really drives through you as Wooderson display their talents early on. Janet Bruce Starts a little more slowly while Too Many Questions continues with the fine tunes and features vocals that are really impressive. Next up is Cardinal which sees the band take a darker direction and has a bass line that looms over you on the other hand Sleepwalking is a far more angst ridden post-punk track that is really brought home by some forceful riffs.
Mint Condition is another great tune which has an excellent instrumental piece in the in the middle of the track, Buffalo Jump is another that has great hooks which builds up nicely into a crescendo of noise at times. Penultimate track Sparrow has a bit of and indie feel to it before the album ends with a bang with the outstanding title track of the record. Overall Wooderson have provided an excellent and exciting debut that has really emphasised the talents of the band.
The album is out on 16th July and can be pre-ordered here.
